Mounting & Security Integration Options
- Top insulator mounting available
- Install cameras, lights, motion detectors and other security devices on panels for added protection
The ceramic composite matrix, combined with engineered air pockets, delivers an exceptional Air Thermal Conductivity rating of 0.024 W/m·K, a low value that translates to superior thermal insulation and fire resistance.
Rated to ASTM E119 standards, Intelli-Firewall delivers a 4-hour fire-resistance rating to help safeguard critical infrastructure and assets in high-risk environments.
Intelli-Firewall requires minimal maintenance and is built to perform in extreme conditions — rated for extreme cold climates, severe weather, and harsh environmental exposure, with demonstrated resilience against seismic activity, including back-to-back 6.0+ magnitude earthquakes. Panels carry an expected service life of approximately 100 years.
No two projects are alike. We specialize in designing and manufacturing custom composite wall systems that meet the exact demands of your site, ensuring robust protection for your most vital assets. We offer permanent and deployable wall systems to fit both long-term installations and temporary project needs.
From natural disasters to security threats, our solutions protect infrastructure across all industries.
What fire resistance rating does the Intelli-Firewall achieve?
The Intelli-Firewall meets ASTM E119 standards and delivers a 4-hour fire-resistance rating — one of the highest available for composite wall systems.
What makes the Intelli-Firewall so effective at blocking heat and fire?
The panels use a ceramic composite matrix with engineered air pockets that deliver an Air Thermal Conductivity rating of 0.024 W/m·K — an exceptionally low value that translates to superior thermal insulation and fire resistance. This combination keeps heat from transferring to adjacent assets even in extreme fire conditions.
Has the Intelli-Firewall been tested in real-world conditions?
Yes. In 2011, an Intelli-Firewall system installed at a utility substation contained a nighttime transformer fire, protecting adjacent Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) equipment and preventing widespread power outages. The substation was fully restored within four months. Read the full story here.
What happens to panels after a fire event? Can they be reused?
CSSI’s modular system is designed for repairability and reuse. Following a real-world fire and explosion event, 75% of the wall materials were recovered and reused. Panels that were exposed to heat were independently tested for residual strength and demonstrated 80% of their original undamaged strength after a 10-hour fire — a strong indicator of the material’s resilience. Damaged panels can be individually replaced without dismantling the entire wall.
What is the expected lifespan of an Intelli-Firewall system?
The expected working life of CSSI firewall and ballistic wall systems is approximately 100 years — comparable to bridge-class infrastructure in civil engineering. All materials used are inorganic, which means there is no UV degradation over time. Independent testing after five years of UV and weathering exposure showed no strength loss.
Can the firewall be installed around existing equipment inside a building?
Yes. CSSI has designed and installed Intelli-Firewall systems around transformers and other equipment located inside existing structures. Steel columns are installed around the equipment, and firewall panels are fitted floor-to-ceiling, with custom openings added for inspection, maintenance, and electrical system access. Read the full story here.
Can a wall be modified or expanded after installation?
Yes. The modular design of the Intelli-Firewall makes future modifications straightforward and cost-effective. For example, one existing installation for a utility substation was raised 8 feet taller with minimal disruption and cost after nearby housing development created new noise and coverage requirements. Walls can also be relocated, redeployed for a different purpose, or hardened to a higher ballistic protection level at a later date.
How long does installation take?
A standard wall (35 feet long by 30 feet high) can typically be installed in a single day. More complex or large-scale installations will vary based on site conditions and configuration.
What are typical manufacturing lead times?
Standard orders generally ship can be shipped in less than 12 weeks after final engineering approval. Larger or more complex orders may take longer, but expedited schedules may be available depending on manufacturing capacity.
Does the Intelli-Firewall require a permanent foundation?
Foundation requirements vary by configuration. Cantilevered and freestanding systems are designed to minimize load-bearing impact at the base. Our engineering team will assess your site conditions and recommend the appropriate foundation approach. Deployable firewall options are also available without permanent foundations.
What maintenance does the Intelli-Firewall require?
Very little. For installations in high-wind areas, we recommend a precautionary check of the ceramic cover bolt tightness every three years. All CSSI materials are inorganic, so there is no UV degradation, no rusting, and no spalling.
Does the Intelli-Firewall come with a warranty?
Yes. CSSI wall systems are typically covered by a five-year warranty. We recommend that owners plan an end-of-warranty assessment before the period concludes to determine any future servicing approach. To date, CSSI has not received a single warranty claim on any firewall or ballistic protection product it has supplied.
